A verandah of width 4.5 is constructed along a room outside it if the dimension of the room are 18.5 metre ×14 metre find the following :-
a) area of the varanda
b) the cost of paving tiles in the varanda at the rate of rupees 20 per m2 ​

i) area of verandah = area of rectangle ABCD- area of rectangle pqrs

AB = 27.5( 18.5+4.5+4.5) m

BC= 23 (14+4.5+4.5)m

area of rectangle = l×b

area of rectangle abcd= l1 × b1

l1= 27.5 m

b1= 23m

= 632.5 m^2

area of rectangle pqrs = l2×b2

l2= 18.5 m

b2= 14m

= 18.5×14

= 259m^2

area of verandah = 632- 259

= 373m^2

therefore area of verandah = 373m^2

ii) one m^2 = 20Rs

373 m^2= 373× 20

= 7460 Rs

therefore cost = 7460 rs
