Given:-

  • Length of vertical pole = 6m

  • Shadow of pole = 4m

  • Length of shadow of tower = 28m

To find:-

  • Height of tower

Solution:-

Let height of tower be h m

★ In ∆ABC and ∆DEF,

∠C = ∠E [Angular elevation of sum]

∠B = ∠F = 90°

∆ABC ∼ ∆DEF (∵ By AA similarity criterion)

\dashrightarrow\sf \dfrac{AB}{DF} = \dfrac{BC}{EF} (∵ If two triangles are similar their corresponding sides)

\dashrightarrow\sf \dfrac{6}{h} = \dfrac{4}{28}

\dashrightarrow\sf h  = 6 \times \dfrac{ \cancel{28}}{ \cancel{4}}

\dashrightarrow h = 6 × 7

\dashrightarrow h = 42m

Therefore, Height of tower is 42m.
