Given :- A vessel contain some litres of pure milk. if 25 litre of water is added to the vessel, then ratio between milk and water becomes 12:5, 17 litres of mixture is drawn from the vessel and 10 litre of water is added to the mixture. find the new ratio between milk and water. ?

Solution :-

given that,

→ Pure milk : 25 water = 12 : 5

So,

→ Pure milk / 25 = 12/5

→ Pure milk = 12 * 5 = 60 litre.

Now, 17 Litre of mixture was taken out.

So,

→ in 17 litre , milk was = 17 * (12/17) = 12 litre .

→ in 17 litre, water was = 17 * (5/17) = 5 litre.

then,

→ Milk left in mixture = 60 - 12 = 48 litre.

and,

→ water left in mixture = 25 - 5 = 20 litre.

Now, 10 litre of water is added in the mixture .

So,

→ quantity of water in mixture now = 20 + 10 = 30 litre.

Therefore,

→ The new ratio between milk and water = 48 : 30 = 8 : 5 (Ans.)

Hence, the new ratio between milk and water in the vessel is 8 : 5.
