Question:-

A vessel has 20 litres of a mixture of milk and water having 60% milk. Five litres of pure milk is added to the vessel Find the percentage of milk in the new solution

  • 70%
  • 68%
  • 64%
  • 66%

Given:-

  • A vessel has 20 litres of a mixture of milk and water having 60% milk.
  • Five litres of pure milk is added to the vessel

To Find:-

  • The percentage of milk in the new solution

Solution:-

Total volume of mixture in vessel = 20 litre

mixture percentage = 60%

\sf\green{milk's \: volume \: = \frac{60}{100} \times 20 = 12 \: litre } \\

Now 5 litre of pure milk added to the mixture again

Then the total volume of mixture = 25 litre

Volume of milk = 17 litre ( 12 + 5 )

\sf\green{percentage \: of \: milk \: in \: new \: solution \:  =  \:  \frac{17}{25} \times 100 } \\  \sf\pink{ = 68\%}

Hence

  • percentage of milk in new solution = 68%
