A vessel is in the form of a hemispherical bowl surmounted by a hollow cylinder of same diameter.The diameter of the hemispherical bowl is 14cm and the total height of the vessel is 13cm. Find the total surface area of the vessel... I found the solution to this question....but I couldn't figure out that how is the height of cylinder 13-7=6cm..??

Remember 13cm is the total height comprising the height of the cylinder and the radius of the hemisphere.

So, the height of cylinder alone = Total height - radius of sphere = 13 - 7 = 6 cm
