Given: A voltmeter of 250 mV range having a resistance of 10 W is converted into an ammeter  of 250 mA range.

To find: The value of necessary shunt ?

Solution:

  • Now we have given the value of voltmeter of 250 mV.
  • Resistance of 10 W.
  • So shunt will be:
  • S = V(g) / I - I(g)
  • So here neglecting I(g), we get:
  • S = V(g) / I
  • S = 250 / 250 = 1 ohm

Answer:

So the shunt will be 1 ohm.
