Answer

Find out the what was the number of fruit bearing tress planted.

To prove

As given

A voluntary organization planted a total of 106 trees along the road side.

If the number of non-fruit bearing trees was two more than thrice the number of fruit bearing tree .

let us assume that the number of fruit bearing tree be x.

let us assume that the number of non- fruit bearing tree = 2 + 3x

Than the equation becomes

x + 2 + 3x = 106

4x + 2 = 106

4x = 106 - 2

4x = 104

x = \frac{104}{4}

x = 26

Therefore the number of the fruit bearing trees planted be 26 .

Option (D) is correct.
