A wall 24 m long, 0.4 m thick and 6 m high is
constructed with the bricks each of dimensions
25 cm x 16 cm x 10 cm. If mortar occupies 1/10 th

the volume of wall, then find the number of bei
used in constructing the wall.

Answer:

Given :

length of wall = 24 m =2400 cm

thickness of wall = 0.4 m = 40 cm

hieght of wall = 6 m = 600 cm

To Find :

volume of wall

Number of brick used in constructing the wall

Solution :

volume \: of \: wall = length \times breadth \:  \times height

volume \: of \: wall \:  = 2400 \times 40 \times 600 = 57600000 {cm}^{3}

mortar's volume :

 \frac{1}{10}  \times 57600000 = 5760000 {cm}^{3}

volume \: of \: bricks \:  =  \: 57600000 - 5760000 = 51840000 {cm}^{3}

number \: of \: bricks \:  =   \frac{volume \: of \: bricks}{volume \: of \: one \: brick}

length of brick = 25 cm

breadth of brick = 16 cm

Height of brick = 10 cm

volume \: of \: brick \:  = 25 \times 16 \times 10 = 4000 {cm}^{3}

Now , number of bricks used in constructing wall :

 \frac{51840000}{4000}  = 12960
