QUESTION ---- A watch dealer pays 10% custom duty on a watch which costs rupees 500 abroad. For how much should he mark it,if he desires to make a profit of 20%after giving a discount of 25%to the buyer

ANSWER
_____________________________

Original Price = ₹500

10% Custom duty means new Cost price =
500 + 10/100 × 500

New Cost Price = ₹550

_________________________

After Giving Discount , Price = ₹550 - 1/4 × 550

After Discount = ₹412.5

Selling Price = ₹412.5

_________________________

He wants a profit of 20% on 412.5

Therefore,

Marked Price = 412.5 + 20/100 × 412.5

Marked Price = 412.5 + 82.5

Marked Price = ₹495
__________________________

ANSWER = ₹495
