Answer:

Rs119.36

offered price = 115

price reduced by 5%

new price is

115 - 115×5%

115- 5.75

cost price = rs 109.25

profit = 9.25%

selling price = [(100+ profit%)/100 ×CP]

(100+ 9.25)/100 × 109.25

rs 119.36

The dealer bought the watch at  ₹109.25 and sold it at ₹119.36 to get a profit of 9.25%.

Given:

The cost price of a watch on sale is ₹115. If the price is reduced by 5%, the dealer who is selling it will make a 9.25% profit.

To Find:

At what price did the dealer buy that watch from the sale.

Solution:

Things that are given;

The offered price of the watch is ₹115

Price reduction is by 5%

Therefore,

The new price of the watch becomes,

₹(115 - (115×5)%)

= ₹(115- 5.75)

= ₹109.25

Thus the new cost price becomes,

C.P =  ₹109.25

Now, the dealer made a profit of 9.25%.

Thus the profit that the dealer get from the watch is,

p = ₹(109.25×9.25%)

=₹10.1056

≈₹10.11

Therefore, the selling price,

S.P = [C.P + p]

= ₹[109.25 + 10.11]

= ₹119.36

The dealer bought the watch at  ₹109.25 and sold it at ₹119.36 to get a profit of 9.25%.
