Sp when profit is 6% = X + 6X/100 = 106X/100

Sp when loss is 6% = X - 6X/100 = 94X/100

Given difference = 870 rs.

So,

106X/100 - 94X/100 = 870

8X/100 = 870

X = 870 x 100/8

X = 10875

Thus, cost price is ₹10875
