A well of diameter 150 cm has a stone parapet around it . If the length of the outer edge of the parapet 616 cm, find the width of the parapet

Given , the diameter of the well ( d) = 140 cm

Let radius and diameter of the parapet is R and D respectively .

since , the length of the outer edge of the parapet = 616 cm.

Therefore ,

Now , width of the parapet = ( diameter of the well - diameter of the parapet )/2 = (d-D)/2

=(196-140)/2=28cm

Hence , width of the parapet is 28 cm.
