A well with 14m diameter is dug 15m deep.The earth taken out of it has been evenly spread all around it to a width of 7m to form an embankment.Find the height of the embankment.

so its diameter=14 m and internal radius=14/2=7 m

height=15 m and total radius of embankment along with radius of well R=7+7=14 m

volume of cylinder = pi r^2 h=22/7*7*7*15=2310 m eq.1

now volume of embankment=pi r^2 h- pi r^2 h=(R-r)(R+r)

pi h( 14-7)(14+7)

22/7 *H(7)(21)=22/7*H*147 eq.2

from eq 1 and 2

2310=22/7*H*147

2310*7/22*147=H

h=5.4
