Answer

a) Aluminum is extracted from bauxite ore.

b) Hematite is an iron ore. Iron 3 oxide is present in this ore. It's chemical formula is Fe2O3.

c) Zinc is extracted from Cincinnati sulphide ore (zinc blende) by the process of roasting. It is heated strongly in the presence of air.

2ZnS + 3O2 ---- 2ZnO + 2SO2

Zinc oxide is further reduced to zinc with the help of carbon.

ZnO + C ------- Zn + CO.

d) Galvanized iron is protected even if the zinc layer is broken because unlike tin it is not electroplated on iron.

e) Aluminum is highly resistant to corrosion because it reacts with oxygen to form aluminum oxide which prevents corrosion.
