Sclerenchyma is present on the husk of the coconut. A chemical named SUBERIN is present on the walls of this tissue to make cell permeable to water and gases.
We know that apical meristem gelps in the longitudnal growth of the plant. So if it gets damaged the plant will not grow longitudnally.
