It is bleaching powder.

Chemical name-Calcium oxychloride

Formula-CaOCl₂

It is produced by action of chlorine on dry slaked lime.

Equation- Ca(OH)2 + Cl2 → CaOCl2 + H2O

Used for washing some clothes.

b)(i)NaOH + HNO3 → NaNO3 + H2O(Salt name- Sodium nitrate)

   (ii)2KOH + H2SO4 → K2SO4 + 2H2O(Salt name-Potassium sulphate)

Answer: the white solid which is used to decolorize clothes and also used as a disinfectant for water is bleaching powder.

the process by which bleaching powder is prepared is given below,

as during the chlor-alkali process the chlorine which is obtained is treated with calcium hydroxide and further it gives bleaching powder and water.

Ca(OH)2 + Cl2 -> CaOCl2 + H2O
