Solution :-

Let us assume that, quantity of three varieties of lentils are 2x kg, 2x kg and 3x kg respectively . Let us also assume that, Cost of third variety of lentils per kg is Rs.y .

so,

→ Price of first variety per kg * quantity + Price of second variety per kg * quantity + Price of third variety per kg * quantity = Total weight of lentils * price of mixture .

→ 170 * 2x + 180 * 2x + y * 3x = 173 * (2x + 2x + 3x)

→ 340x + 360x + 3xy = 173 * 7x

→ 700x + 3xy = 1211x

→ 3xy = 1211x - 700x

→ 3xy = 511x

→ 3y = 511

→ y = 511/3

→ y = Rs.170.33 / kg . (Ans.)

Hence, the price per kg of the third variety of lentils is Rs.170.33 .
