a wholesaler sells a watch to a retailer at gain of 20% and the retailer sells it to a customer at a loss of 10% . if the customer pays rs 874.4 .what had it cost the wholesaler.
Answers
Solution :-
CP of customer = SP of Retailer = Rs.874.4
So ,
→ SP of Retailer = Rs.874.4
→ Loss % = 10%
→ CP of Retailer = SP * 100 / (100 - Loss%)
→ CP of Retailer = (874.4*100)/(100-10)
→ CP of Retailer = (874.4 * 100) / 90
→ CP of Retailer = Rs.971.55

CP of Retailer = SP of wholesaler = Rs.971.55
So ,
→ SP of wholesaler = Rs.971.55
→ Gain% = 20%
→ CP of wholesaler = SP * 100 / (100 + Gain%)
→ CP of wholesaler = ( 971.55 * 100) / (100 + 20)
→ CP of wholesaler = ( 971.55 * 100) / 120
→ CP of wholesaler ≈ Rs.810 (Ans).
