Explanation:

(a) Fuse is fitted because fuse have a thin wire which have a limited melting point.

If the flow of current is in more amount than the thin wire will melt and the circuit will be broken down and hence the more amount of current flow can be stoped. And the accident of shock circuit can be prevented.

(a) In order to protect the whole wiring system of the house for an excessive current supply to flow through the circuit smoothly without any defects, the fuse box is used to fit a fuse of domestic electricity supply.

(b) An MCB i.e., Miniature Circuit Breaker, an electromechanical device could be used in place of the fuses. This device is designed especially to protect an electric circuit from over- current flow. It is used to protect it from any electric fault due to a short circuit or overload.
