Answer :

  • Area of rectangle = 88cm²
  • Area of square = 961cm²
  • Area of square is greater then area of rectangle

Given :

  • A wire is in the shape of a rectangle
  • length is 40cm
  • breadth is 22cm

To find :

  • which shape encloses more area

Solution:

so now we have to convert the rectangular wire to square then length of the wire will be the same

  • Perimeter of rectangle = Perimeter of square

Rectangle:

  • length of rectangle = 40cm
  • breadth of rectangle = 22cm

As we know that ,

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l+b)

● 2(40+22)

● 124cm

Square:

  • let side a

● perimeter of square = 4a

so Now ,

  • Perimeter of rectangle = Perimeter of square

● 124 = 4a

● 124/4 = a

● 31 = a

● a = 31cm

side of square is 31cm

Now we need to find the area of bigger :

Area of Rectangle:

  • Area of rectangle = l × b

● 40× 22

● 88cm²

Area of square:

  • Area of square = a × a

● 31 × 31

● 961cm²

  • Area of rectangle = 88cm²
  • Area of square = 961cm²

Area of square is greater then area of rectangle
