A wire is in the shape of a rectangle of length 40 cm and breadth 22 cm. if the same wire is again benrt in the shapenof a square, what will we be the measure of each side? also find which shape enclosebmore area?
Answers
Answer:
length of rectangle= 40 cm
breadth of rectangle= 22 cm
so, perimeter= (40+22)*2
= 62*2
=124 cm
so, sides of square= 124/4= 31cm
so the measure of sides of square is 31 cm and both the shape will enclose same area

Given :-
- A wire is in the shape of a rectangle of length 40 cm and breadth 22 cm.
To Find :-
- If the same wire is again bent in the shape of a square, what will we be the measure of each side ?
- Which shape enclose more area ?
Solution :-
As we know that,
Here, Perimeter = Length of wire
[ And it will remain same when you will change the shape of wire ]
★ Perimeter of Rectangle = 2( length + breadth )
★ Perimeter of Square = 4 × Side
★ Area of Rectangle = Length × Breadth
★ Area of Square = Side × Side
- ~When wire is bent in shape of rectangle :
Finding the perimeter :-
⟶ 2( 40 cm + 22 cm )
⟶ 2( 62 cm )
⟶ 2 × 62 cm
⟶ 124 cm
Finding the area :-
⟶ 40 cm × 22 cm
⟶ 880 cm²
- ~When wire is bent in shape of square :
[ Perimeter of rectangle = Perimeter of square , because length of wire remains same ]
Finding side :-
⟶ 4 × side = 124 cm
⟶ Side = 124 cm ÷ 4
⟶ Side = 31 cm
Finding the area :-
⟶ 31 cm × 31 cm
⟶ 961 cm²
We can see that,
- Area of square ( 961 cm² ) > Area of rectangle ( 880 cm² )
Hence,
- Measure of each side when wire is bent into square shape is 31 cm
- Square shaped wire enclose more area.
