Consider a wire of length l and cross sectional area A stretched by a force F through a distance Δl.

Then expression for Young's Modulus is given as :-

Y= FlAΔl ..........(1)

According to question, Δl = 2l

Then, Young's Modulus (Y)= F2A

Explanation:

  • The young's modulus is a mechanical property that measures the stiffness of a solid material.
  • It is a constant quantity.
  • Every material has a constant Young's modulus.
  • If a wire is stretched by a force such that its length becomes doubled, then the young's modulus of the material remains the same.
