the ans is 4 ohms because when the wire is bent then the potenyial differece taken across the diameter the two 8ohms will be in parallel connection so the effective resistance becomes 4 ohms

Given :

A wire of 16 ohm is bent to form a circle .

To Find :

The resistance between two diametrically opposite points .

Solution :

Here , the wire is bent in the form of circle .

Therefore , resistance of half the wire is :

R = 8 ohms .

Now , we need to find resistance between two diametrically opposite points .

Therefore , both the resistance are in parallel .

So ,

\dfrac{1}{R_{eq}}=\dfrac{1}{8}+\dfrac{1}{8}\\\\R_{eq}=4\ ohms

Therefore , resistance  between two diametrically opposite points is 4 ohms
