A wire of length 88 cm is cut into three pieces. The lengths of the pieces are in the ratio 2:3:6. Find the
length of the (i) shortest piece (ii) longest piece.
(i) Increase 540 in the ratio 6:7 (ii) Decrease 440 kg in the ratio 11 : 5.

Shortest rope = 16cm

Longest rope = 48cm

Let , the three pieces =

2x + 3x + 6x = 11x

Total length of wire = 88cm

11x = 88

x = 8

First rope = 8×2 = 16cm

Second rope = 8×3 = 24cm

Third rope = 8×6=48.
