A wire of radius 3 mm and length 200m is melted into a sphere.Calculate the radius of the sphere in metres

Answer:

Radius of wire, r =3.0 mm

Length of wire, L=200m = 200000 mm

Volume of the material of the wire = πr²L =π×3²×200000=1800000π mm³

Let Radius of the resulting sphere = R

Volume of the sphere = (4/3)πR³

Volume of metal in the wire = Volume of metal in the sphere

Hence

1800000π=(4/3)πR³

→R³=1800000×3/4=1350000

→R =(1350000)^(1/3)=110.52 mm
