A wizard named nepo says i am only three times my sons age. my father is 40 years more than twice my age. together the three of us are a mere 1240 years old. how old is nepo

let the age of son be =x
then his wizard = 3x

and his father will be = 6x+40

and acc. to ques x+3x+6x+40= 1240

10x+40= 1240
10x = 1200
x= 120
his son = 60

Let nepo's son's age be x.
Then, nepo's age = 3 (son's age )= 3x.
Then, nepo's father's age= 2 (Nepo's age) +40= 2 (3x) + 40. = 6x +40

Sum of their ages = 1240
So, x + 3x +6x + 40 =1240
10x = 1240-40
10x = 1200
x = 1200/10
x = 120.
So, nepo's son's age is 120 years.
Nepo's age is 3 (120)=360 years.
Nepo's father's age is 2 (360) + 40 = 720+40= 760 years.
