If the thickness is 2cm and the outer dimensions are 28cm×24cm×26cm then,

Inner dimensions are (28-2)×(24-2)×(26-2) = 26cm×22cm×24cm

Hence,

Outer volume = lbh = 28×24×26 = 17472cm³

Internal volume = lbh = 26×22×24 = 13728cm³

Therefore, volume of wood used = 17472-13728

= 3744cm³
