A wooden cube of side 10 cm has mass 700 g. What
part of it remains above the water surface while floating
vertically on the water surface​

Volume of the cube=10×10×10 cm3

=1000cm3

Mass of the displaced water=1000 ×1 g

=1000g

If mass was of the displaced water would be 700 g , then the cube would float inside water.

But some part of the cube would float outside water due to (1000-700) g of weight.

Volume of the cube remains above the surface of water =( 1000/700)×300cm3

=3000/7 cm3

(3000/7)÷1000=3/7 th part of the wooden cube remains above the surface of water while floating.
