We know that work done = energy

Since we are talking about height thus we are dealing with gravitational potential energy.

Given;

  • E = 4900 J
  • M = 50kg
  • h = h meters
  • we know that g = 9.8m/s²

Thus gravitational potential energy = E = mgh

  • E = mgh
  • 4900 = 50 × 98/10 × h
  • 4900 = 5 × 98 × h
  • 49 × 100 = 5 × 98 × h
  • 1 × 20 = 1 × 2 × h
  • h = 10m
