The young plant receives light from one direction so it will show phototropism and will direct itself to the direction of the sun....which means shoot will face towards the sun while..

The root of the plant will show geotropism it will have no effect of sunlight...hence it will grow beneath the surface and spread throughout the ground .....

Hope it helps...regards SR

Any green plant is the producer of food chain in the whole earth's ecosystem.

Plants collect resources from the nature, and use it to produce their foods, without depending on any other living organism.

The sunlight is one of the main resources of a plant in food generating process.

If a young green plant receives sunlight from one direction only, the side which faces the sunlight will stay fresh and green and the opposite side of that plant will turn white, due to lack of the sunlight and energy.
