Answer:
(a) The life of the cherry tree was threatened
It is a fact that life of a living being is surrounded by many challenges. Be it man, animal or plant, there are many threats to their existence. Similarly, the life of the cherry tree in the poem The Cherry Tree was also threatened. Goats ate its leaves when it was quite young; the grass cutter’s scythe cut it into two parts; monsoon blight also shriveled it. But the cherry tree endured all these ravages and finally blossomed.
(b) The cherry blossomed
The cherry tree was quite strong; it continued struggling to live; finally in the spring season, its new shoots grew, leaves came on them and it fed on sun’s light and fresh air. With each passing season, the sapling grew into a tree and bore flowers and fruit in abundance.
(c) Action led to a great achievement
The secret behind cherry tree’s growth was tireless action. The tree, when it was sapling was choked, cut, and blighted, but it had a strong desire to live; it kept on making efforts to live and fought against the challenges and finally became a full-grown tree.
