Answer:

12 km

Explanation:

Let time taken to travel on foot be f hrs

Distance on foot = 4f km

∴ Time on cycle = (9 – f ) hrs

Distance on cycle = 9(9 – f ) km

Distance on cycle = (81 – 9f ) km

Total distance = 66 km

∴ Distance on (foot + cycle) = 66 km

∴ 4f + 81 – 9f = 66 km

∴ 81 – 5f = 66 km

∴ 5f = (81 – 66) = 15 km

f = 3 km

Distance on foot = 4f km

∴ Distance on foot = (4×3) = 12 km [ANS]

Given: Aakash travels some part of his journey on foot at 4 km/hr and some part on cycle at 9 km/hr to his office covering a total distance of 66 km in 9 hours.

To find: distance travelled by foot

Solution: First, let the distance travelled by Aakash by foot be x

therefore the distance travelled by cycle will be 66-x

we know that d = s×t

in which d is the distance travelled, s is speed and t is time taken

here we can say that

9 = x/ 4 + (66-x)/9

9x + 4(66-x) = 324

5x = 324- 264

5x= 60

x= 12km

Therefore, the distance travelled on foot by aakash will be 12km.
