➩ Solution :-

\blue{\bold{\boxed{pressure = force / area}}}

⟶area of one side of cube =

⟶a×a=10×10=100 cm²

\blue{\bold{\boxed{p=weight /area }}}

⟶p=1000/100

{\bold{\boxed{ p = 10 }}}

Note :-

  • weight is also considered as froce

\huge\mathfrak{Answer:}

\large\underline{\sf{\blue{Given:}}}

  • A block of mass 1 kg in shape of a cube is kept on a horizontal table
  • Edge of given cube is 10 cm

\large\underline{\sf{\blue{To \: Find:}}}

  • We have to find the pressure on the table due to cubical block

\large\underline{\sf{\blue{Concept \: Used:}}}

Pressure can be simply defined as Thrust by a body per unit its area

\boxed{\sf{Pressure = \dfrac{Force}{Area}}}

It's SI unit is N/m² or Pascal.

Usually represented as Pa. Types of Pressure are Absolute , Relative , Atmospheric etc.

Dimensional Formula : \sf{[M L^{-1} T ^{-2}]}

\sf{}

\large\underline{\sf{\blue{Solution:}}}

We have been given that :

\boxed{\sf{Mass \: of \: Block = 1 \: kg}}

Force Exerted by mass of Block on the surface of horizontal table is :

\hookrightarrow \sf{Force = mg}

\hookrightarrow \sf{Force = 1 \times 9.8}

\hookrightarrow \boxed{\sf{Force = 9.8 \: N}}

\sf{}

Area of Block in contact with the table is

\hookrightarrow \sf{Area = (Side)^2 }

\hookrightarrow \sf{Area = (10)^2 }

\hookrightarrow \sf{Area = 100 \: cm^2 }

\hookrightarrow \boxed{\sf{Area = 10^{-2} \: m^2 }}

\sf{}

\large\underline{\mathfrak{\red{We \: know \: that :}}}

Pressure is the force exerted per unit area by a mass

\implies \sf{Pressure = \dfrac{F}{A}}

\implies \sf{Pressure = \dfrac{9.8}{10^{-2}}}

\implies \sf{Pressure = 9.8 \times 10^2 }

\implies \boxed{\sf{Pressure = 980 \: Pa}}

\sf{}

Pressure Exerted is 980 Pa

\large\purple{\underline{\underline{\mathtt{Extra \: Information:}}}}

  • Pressure is directlty proportional to the force exerted. More the force more will be the Pressure
  • Pressure is inversely proportional to area I'm contact .More the area in contact the lesser will be the Pressure.
  • Force that acts perpendicular to a surface is known as Thrust
  • Types of Thrust : Upthrust and downthrust
