Aatmanirbhar Bharat - How can school children contribute to National Development?

Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-dependent India) is the vision of the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and the rest of whole India to make our country more powerful and self-reliant nation. The first mention of this came in the form of the 'Atmanirbhar Bharata Abhiyan' or 'Self-Reliant India Mission' during the announcement of the coronavirus pandemic related economic package on 12 May 2020. This self-reliant policy does not aim to be protectionist in nature and as the Finance Minister clarified, "self-reliant India does not mean cutting off from rest of the world". But it means that coming together with rest of world in the path of progress. The law and IT minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad, said that self-reliance does "not mean isolating away from the world. Foreign direct investment is welcome, technology is welcome, self-reliant India... translates to being a bigger and more important part of the global economy.”

The words of Prime Minister while addressing to the nation said, "It is our responsibility to ensure that the 21st century belongs to India.

He said that the COVID-19 crisis has brought an "opportunity for India". "As a nation today, we stand at a very important juncture. Such a big disaster has brought a signal to India. It has given a message to us and brought an opportunity for us that is to be self-reliant whose soul is 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' (the world is one family),"

India is a country that have potential and can help other countries for their progress also.

With more than 180 million school children in India, the young generation is a force that is yet to show it's true strength. Children have the energy to help the nation fight the problems that are hampering its progress and then steer India onto the path towards becoming Aatmanirbhar Bharat or self-reliant India is that we are fully or can be said partially dependent upon other nation for our progress. People’s of India going abroad and working for other nations if their will be enough facilities provided in India they won’t go and settle down in other countries and contribute towards the development of their country they should get more and more opportunities in our country also.

To begin with school children can organise and participate in numerous awareness campaigns to fight problems like poverty, pollution. For instance, if each child consciously refuses to use plastic tiffins and bottles and is careful about not littering in public places, pollution levels will drop drastically. The time, money and effort currently being spent by the government to handle pollution can then be used more creatively towards developing a self-reliant nation.

Youth are the power and they can change the entire nation India has a good youth population and by using the power of those youth population we are able to develop in a more powerful manner.

Additionally, our nation suffers from acute illiteracy. This illiteracy translates into higher unemployment and crime rates. School children can help here by trying to educate underprivileged children of domestic helpers. While the government looks at literacy in terms of figures, these children will be able to deal with their not-so-fortunate counterparts on a one-to-one basis. This will help motivate both sets of children, to impart and gain education. An educated nation is better adapted to technological progress and efforts towards self-reliance.

As unrealistic as it may sound, school children have the potential to change the face of the nation and help fight issues that the country is facing and put it on a progressive trajectory, to take it to a level when India can truly claim its position as Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
