AB and CD are two chords of a circle such that AB=6cm, CD=12cm and ABllCD. If the distance between AB and CD is 3cm, find the radius of the circle.

Answer:

3√5. by using Pythagoras theorem

r²=x²+36>>>equation 1.

In right angle OPB =r²=(x+3)²+3²

By Pythagoras theorem,

r²=x²+6x+9+9=x²+6x+18>>>>equation 2.

From equ 1 and 2

we get x²+36=x²+6x+18

6x=18 x=18/6 =3

put x=3 in equ 1,

r²=3²+36=9+36=45

r=√45

= 3√5.......
