AB and CD, two spherical mirrors, from parts

of a hollow spherical ball with its centre at O as

shown in the diagram. If arc AB = 1
/2

arc CD,

what is the ratio of their focal lengths? State

which of the two mirrors will always form

virtual image of an object placed in front of

it and why?

i) Centre of curvature = O

Radius of curvature of both the mirrors are equal. So, as Focal length = Radius of curvature/2

Therefore,

the Focal length of both the mirrors are equal. So the ratio of their Focal lengths is 1.

ii) Mirror AB will always form virtual image as it's focal length is behind it ,as it is a convex mirror.
