consider a triangle ABC where angle c is 90° and AC = BC

BY PYTHAGORAS THEOREM WE HAVE

AC^2 + BC^2 = AB^2

AC^2 + AC^2 = AB^2

2AC^2 = AB^2

HENCE PROVED

Given Information:

  • ABC is an isosceles right triangle, right angled at C.

To Prove:

  • AB² = 2 AC²

Solution:

Since ∆ABC is a right angle,

Therefore,

AB² = AC² + BC² ❴Pythagoras Thermo❵

=> AB² = AC² + AC² [∴ BC = AC]

=> AB² = 2 AC²

Hence Proved :)
