Given :-

In ∆ABC , angle A = 90°

AC = 13 , BC = 12 , AB = 5 .

AD is Perpendicular & AD || BC

To find :-

Length of the Perpendicular AD

Solution :-

Comparing ∆ ABC , ∆ADC

AC = AC [ common side ]

angle ADC = Angle CAB = 90° [ Given ]

Angle DAC = Angle ACB [ Alternative angles ]

Hence , ∆ABC ≈ ∆ADC

Soo , CD = AB by C.P.C.T.C.E

soo CD = AB = 5cm

Now in the given Right angled ∆ADC

AD² + CD² = AC² [ Pythagorean theory ]

5²+AD²=13²

AD² = 169 - 25

AD = √144

AD = 12 cm

Length of Perpendicular AD = 12cm
