Answer is 2.8

9/16 = (2.1)2/(EF)2

taking root both sides, we get

3/4 = 2.1/EF

EF = 2.1*4/3

EF = 2.8

Given triangle ABC and triangle d e f are similar

ar(ABC)/ar(DEF)=AB^2/DE^2=

BC^2/EF^2=AC^2/DF^2

ar(ABC)/ar(DEF)=BC^2/EF^2

9/16=(2.1)^2/(EF)^2

therefore by simplifying EF=2.8cm
