Solution :

Given first expression = abc + xy

second expression = 3xy - 13abc

Now ,

i ) Subtract second expression from

first , we get

abc + xy - ( 3xy - 13abc )

= abc + xy - 3xy + 13abc

= abc + 13abc + xy - 3xy

= ( 1 + 13 )abc + ( 1 - 3 )xy

= 14abc - 2xy

ii ) Subtracting first expression from

second , we get

=> 3xy - 13abc - ( abc + xy ).

= 3xy - 13abc - abc - xy

= 3xy - xy - 13abc - abc

= ( 3 - 1 )xy + ( -13 - 1 )abc

= 2xy - 14abc
