Step-by-step explanation:

To calculate the centroid of a combined shape, sum the individual centroids times the individual areas and divide that by the sum of the individual areas as shown on the applet. If the shapes overlap, the triangle is subtracted from the rectangle to make a new shape.

According to question,

ABCD is a rectangle of side 10cm × 6cm

From this we assume that, 10 cm is breadth and 6cm is length.

Centroid of rectangle is defined as the center point where all the diagonals intersect each other. The diagonals of the rectangle intersect at width b/2 from x - axis and at height h/2 from y - axis. It can also be termed as the geometric center.

We know that BC is an diagonal first we have to find this

Diagonal of a rectangle =under root (length^2 + breadth^2)

= under root (6^2 + 10^2)

= under root (36 + 100)

= 11.66 cm

Therefore, It is a rectangle opposite side are equal and hence diagonal are also equal.

To find geometrical centroid.

Divide length and breadth by 2 we get,

length = 6 => 6/2 = 3

breadth = 10 => 10/2 = 5

Diagonal of this measure = 5.83

Therefore, geometrical centroid is 5.83 sq unit.
