As opposite sides of a rectangle are equal

x + y = 30 -----(1)

x - y = 14 -----(2)

Solving (1) and (2)

In (2) 》》 x = 14 + y -----(3)

Substituting (3) in (1)

14 + y + y = 30

2y = 30 - 14

2y = 16

y = 8

Then 》 x = y + 14 = 8 + 14

x = 22

Hence x = 22 and y = 8
