As we know all angles of rectangles measure 90°

So,

Given , AB = 12cm

BC = 5cm

BC is the diagonal and it divides the rectangle in two triangles - 1

from 1 we get to know

angle A = 90°

and the side in front of angle A is called hypotenuse

As we know the formula

H^2 = square of base+square of height

5^2 = 12^2 + B^2

25 = 144 + B^2

B^2 = 144-25
