Given : ABCD is a trapezium in which AB || CD,  AD ⊥ DC

AB=20cm BC=13cm DC=25cm

To Find :    area of the trapezium

Solution:

AB = 20    cm

CD = 25   cm

CD - AB = 5  cm

BC = 13 cm

Draw BP ⊥ CD

CP = DC - DP

DP = AB

CP = 25 -  20

=> CP = 5

BC² - CP² = BP²

=> 13² - 5² = BP²

=> BP = 12 cm

=> Height =BP =  12 cm

Area of  trapezium ABCD = (1/2) ( 20 + 25) * 12

= 45 * 6

= 270 cm²
