ABCD is a trapezium in which AB||CD and CE is perpendicular to AB. Also AB=10cm, CD=6cm and BC=5cm. Find the area of the trapezium.

Answer:

triangle ADX and BCY are right angled

DX=CY

AX+BY=11–6=5

AX=sqrt(9-x^2)

BY=sqrt(16-x^2)

now solve for x!
