ABCD is a trapezium in which AB is parallel to CD. P &Q are midpoints of side AD & BC. If AB=10 cm.DC=16 cm then find the length of PQ?

Step - by - step explanation :

Join AC and name point of interesting as O.

In ∆ADC,

P is mid point and PQ || CD,

Therefore, O is also mid point on diagonal AC.

Hence, OP = ½ CD

Here, CD = 16 cm

OP = ½ × 16 cm = 8 cm

In ∆ABC,

Q is mid point on BC and OQ || AB

OQ = ½ AB

Here, AB = 10 cm

OQ = ½ × 10 cm = 5 cm

Now, PQ = OP + OQ

PQ = 8 cm + 5 cm = 13 cm
