Abdul while driving to school, computer
the average speed to his trip to be
20km/h. On his return trip along
same route , there is less traffic and
the average speed is 30 km/h. What is
the average speed for Abdul's trip.​

Let s be the distance covered during the trip.

Given, average speed for the trip = 20km h^-1

Average speed for return trip = 30 km h^-1

time taken for return trip = s/30

total time taken = s/30 + s/30

total distance covered for trip and return trip = s + s = 2s

therefore, avg speed = 2s/s/30+s/30 = 2s/s[30+20/20•30]

= 2•20•30/50 = 24 km h^-1
