No. of alleles present in the population which controls the ABO grouping is 3 which are; 1) IA , 2)IB & 3) i.

And in one single sperm there will single allele coming from the father which will contribute and determine the offspring's blood group. It could be any one from the above mentioned three.

Thus if there is 1 allele in a sperm and 3 in total population the ratio will be 1:3 (2).
