if speed of the boat be x and stream speed be y
from the given question,
24/(x-y) + 28/(x+y) = 6
30/(x-y) + 21/(x+y) = 13/2
Let x+y=m
x-y=r
24r+28y=6; 30r+21m=13/2
12r+14y=3
Multiplying by 5
60r+70y=15-
-60r+42m=13
28m=2
m=1/14
So r=1/6
So
x-y=6 and x+y=14
Then solve for x and y.
