Partition of Bengal

In 1905 Viceroy Curzon partitioned Bengal. The British said that the reason for the partition was administrative convenience but the actual reason was British wanted to seperate normal unconscious people and Bengali politicians who became conscious about British presence in India.

IMPACT:

The impact was Swadeshi movement in Bengal and Vandemataram movement in Andhra Pradesh.

Many people opposed this partition. Large public meetings and demonstrations were organised and novel methods of mass protest developed. This struggle was known as Swadeshi movement in Bengal and Vandemataram movement in Andhra Pradesh.
